DCT final project work day
After a big surprise in class today, where I received an award from the MSTC Foundation & Alumni Board of Directors, our group continued to work on our final project for DCT class. I must say I was very surprised -- so thank you to all involved in the selection. I'm not really sure how our project is going as I feel like a group member has a vision and isn't wanting to share it with the rest of us. We seem to be doing a lot of repetitious work instead of have sections delegated among the four of us. This is not like the groups I have worked in before, both here in school and my former job. I will do my best for my group and myself. That is all I ask of my group and from myself. We shall see what happens when everything is completed and turned in for grading. It will be great!

Final Group Project
Today was a work day, number 5 but now we are on to THE FINAL GROUP PROJECT!!!! (the final countdown by Europe playing in the background.) We are meeting on Friday to discuss the project in more detail after we each research the requirements and bring some creative ideas to the table. So for the rest of today I will probably try to finish up my final project for Graphics and Print Media class.
Amanda, one of my group members is being totally ridiculous by singing the final countdown by Europe.

Podcast & Ethics Projects
So, although this is a tiny bit later than normal, last Wednesday we shared our podcasts and ethics videos with the class. We also had our final project outlined, another group project. I have yet to see the value of doing these group projects, I know the school is trying to teach us to work together with many personality types but school is not like group projects in the real world working environment. I know this because I work in the workplace before returning to school for many, many years. All I will say is that I have been very lucky so far with the groups I have been in.

Work Day #4
Hi All:
We have yet another work day for DCT class. Although we now have a game plan and a meeting set in stone to video record our parts. This should be fun.
Since this post is later than usual for me, I'm going to cover our video session as well. Recording went well and Amanda now has everything to put it all together with Karen's help in editing. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Work Day #3
Our teacher was gone from class so once again it is another work day. Today I'm working from home, I still have a bit of the podcast to do and we also have the group video project with the horrible subject of ethics. I guess I wouldn't mind it so much but I have business law and ethics this semester and quite frankly am sick of that class. It seems like every class I have taken at this school covers the same subject but in multiple classes. It got so bad last semester that I cover the same topic of generation ages in three different classes. Talk about confusing. Oh well, I will just make the best of things, that is all I can do.

Work Day #2
This week in DCT class we had another work day. Our instructor had an earlier class that had a field trip, so she kept our schedule light and flexible with the field trip in mind. She was available to us and we did go over our next assignment, a five minute video on different subjects regarding ethics.
I will admit its not a thrilling subject but perhaps it is a useful one. We are continuing to work on both our podcast and now our videos. This should be interesting. Keep your fingers crossed for luck.

Using Audacity & Lame
This week in DCT class, we learned how to use a program called Audacity. We will be using this program along with a supporting program called Lame to create our podcasts. Lame is used mainly to help Audacity convert our audio files to a .mp3 file format. I must admit I am a tiny bit excited and a whole lot anxious to do this podcast. All this in spite of choosing a subject, I love to talk about - quilting. That was the easy part of this assignment. Wish me luck and I can't wait to share it with you.
The logos at right are from the Audacity and Lame web sites respectively. Just in case you would like to try them out for yourselves.

Podcasts
So today, in DCT class we learned about Podcasts. We will have to find and listen to two Podcasts and then review them. After that we need to decide on a topic for a Podcast that we ourselves will do. How exciting! Lets see--what subject could I talk about for three minutes? I think I might choose quilting. Something like how to pick fabrics.

Making Movies...
This week in Digital Communication Technology class we shared are videos or movies that we have been working on the past few weeks. This for me personally was a struggle. In the end, I liked what I shared with the class. I enjoyed seeing what everyone else had done, they all turned out great. We had a very diverse group of movies covering many different aspects of all our lives. So to all my fellow students, I say well done!
Next we delve into instant messaging done through the world of business. We all use instant messaging in our personal lives but now we will get the chance to see it work in the world that business runs. Have fun with it and remember to play.

MSTC In-service
Hi Everyone,
So, this week is a quiet week, we are continuing to work on our Futuremaker videos. In my case, let us say struggling. I still do not have a firm direction or even an idea of how I want this video to look. Maybe it is because we have rules to follow and I almost always get creatively stymied when there are too many rules. Then I get frustrated, unable to marry the final product (in my head) with the rules. I will eventually get there but there are some growing pains along the way. I hope my fellow classmates are fairing better. See you all next week.

Work Day
Hi everyone.
So this week in Digital Communication Technology class, we had a work day. We are continuing to work on our videos for our Futuremaker project. I am not feeling confident with the project but isn't that the purpose of the assignment. Get us out of our comfort zone and try something new, so that we become more comfortable with different technologies. Right now, I just don't have a clear direction for what I want to do. Not sure how I see myself, as a Futuremaker, that seems to be a big problem. All I can do is try something and do my best. See you next week.

Digital photo edits
This week we shared our digital photos which we were to edit in any way we saw fit. This was an opportunity to play, to enhance your photo or perhaps take a more artistic route. The class did great as usual. Some of mine turned out like I wanted them to and others did not. This class is about learning our new technologies. In a way, it forces us to become children again and play with our new toys. This is a very good thing provided we all remember not to put pressure on ourselves to be perfect. In life there are many happy accidents. This is one of mine. What do you think?

Digital Photos
Today we shared our digital photos for the various rules as part of our assignment. All I will say is that everyone did great. There were lots of great pictures of kids, flowers, animals. I found the framing shots to be very creative. What a great class. I had so much fun taking pictures.

Today's lesson...
So, today we learned all about digital photos and how to take great ones. We also learned about how to create a wiki. A wiki is a better way to collect and organize information with a group of people over the internet, than via emails. I can't wait to see some of the photos my classmates will have taken, it should be fun. Happy shooting everyone.

WELCOME
Welcome to A Digital Paisley Life.
I decide to add a second blog to my original blog just for this new class. My previous blog A Paisley Life address http://stacykpaisleypups.blogspot.com is public if you want to see it. I was going to just use it for this class but change my mind. There is one post regarding this new class, please feel free to view it.
Now on to bigger and better things in the digital age. I hope to learn more about the current technologies available to me and how to use them. I know this will be a fun and challenging journey.
