DCT final project work day
After a big surprise in class today, where I received an award from the MSTC Foundation & Alumni Board of Directors, our group continued to work on our final project for DCT class. I must say I was very surprised -- so thank you to all involved in the selection. I'm not really sure how our project is going as I feel like a group member has a vision and isn't wanting to share it with the rest of us. We seem to be doing a lot of repetitious work instead of have sections delegated among the four of us. This is not like the groups I have worked in before, both here in school and my former job. I will do my best for my group and myself. That is all I ask of my group and from myself. We shall see what happens when everything is completed and turned in for grading. It will be great!

Final Group Project
Today was a work day, number 5 but now we are on to THE FINAL GROUP PROJECT!!!! (the final countdown by Europe playing in the background.) We are meeting on Friday to discuss the project in more detail after we each research the requirements and bring some creative ideas to the table. So for the rest of today I will probably try to finish up my final project for Graphics and Print Media class.
Amanda, one of my group members is being totally ridiculous by singing the final countdown by Europe.

Podcast & Ethics Projects
So, although this is a tiny bit later than normal, last Wednesday we shared our podcasts and ethics videos with the class. We also had our final project outlined, another group project. I have yet to see the value of doing these group projects, I know the school is trying to teach us to work together with many personality types but school is not like group projects in the real world working environment. I know this because I work in the workplace before returning to school for many, many years. All I will say is that I have been very lucky so far with the groups I have been in.

Work Day #4
Hi All:
We have yet another work day for DCT class. Although we now have a game plan and a meeting set in stone to video record our parts. This should be fun.
Since this post is later than usual for me, I'm going to cover our video session as well. Recording went well and Amanda now has everything to put it all together with Karen's help in editing. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Work Day #3
Our teacher was gone from class so once again it is another work day. Today I'm working from home, I still have a bit of the podcast to do and we also have the group video project with the horrible subject of ethics. I guess I wouldn't mind it so much but I have business law and ethics this semester and quite frankly am sick of that class. It seems like every class I have taken at this school covers the same subject but in multiple classes. It got so bad last semester that I cover the same topic of generation ages in three different classes. Talk about confusing. Oh well, I will just make the best of things, that is all I can do.

Work Day #2
This week in DCT class we had another work day. Our instructor had an earlier class that had a field trip, so she kept our schedule light and flexible with the field trip in mind. She was available to us and we did go over our next assignment, a five minute video on different subjects regarding ethics.
I will admit its not a thrilling subject but perhaps it is a useful one. We are continuing to work on both our podcast and now our videos. This should be interesting. Keep your fingers crossed for luck.

Using Audacity & Lame
This week in DCT class, we learned how to use a program called Audacity. We will be using this program along with a supporting program called Lame to create our podcasts. Lame is used mainly to help Audacity convert our audio files to a .mp3 file format. I must admit I am a tiny bit excited and a whole lot anxious to do this podcast. All this in spite of choosing a subject, I love to talk about - quilting. That was the easy part of this assignment. Wish me luck and I can't wait to share it with you.
The logos at right are from the Audacity and Lame web sites respectively. Just in case you would like to try them out for yourselves.
